Raku Workshop with Steven Branfman

Raku vessel by Steven Branfman

On the heels of Sandra Blain's inspiring demonstrations, Carol and I invited Raku Master Steven Branfman of Massachusetts to give an October workshop, demonstrating wheel throwing, vessel altering with surface textures, glazing and firing. So many participants signed up that Steve scheduled an extra day. On firing days five Raku kilns were simultaneously firing for a very productive and hot time for all. Here a couple photos taken during the workshop.

Hand Building Forms and Surfaces with Sandra Blain

I have some catching up to do and we have been busy. Back in the summer of 2009 Carol Commins and I formed a partnership to present visiting ceramic artists to our community here in Prescott, Az. Our first visiting artist, Sandra Blain
--> gave us a great two day hands-on workshop in September, entitled "Hand Building Forms and Surfaces". Here we are during the second day with everyone working or taking notes. Below is one of Sandra Blain's hand built vessels.
